Herv\u00e9 Michel’s first two Napoleonic historical crime novels, Le Regard du diable<\/em> and La Mal\u00e9diction \u00e9gyptienne<\/em>, were published by City under the series title Crimes et complots sous l’Empire<\/em> (Crimes and Conspiracies under the Empire<\/em>).<\/p>

These two novels feature independent investigations and different, unconventional police protagonists, each set against the historical backdrop of Napoleon’s France.<\/p>

Herv\u00e9 Michel later began a new series with \u00c9ditions ExAequo: Les enqu\u00eates du commissaire de Barjac<\/em>, centered on recurring characters.<\/p>

The series follows Antoine de Barjac, a police commissioner investigating crimes during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte. The series includes L’Affaire des conjur\u00e9s de Roches-Noires<\/em> and L’Affaire du cur\u00e9 sans t\u00eate<\/em>.<\/p>
